This album is a time capsule of Gilded Age marketing, housing some of the most sought-after "crossover" rarities in the ephemera hobby, including 19th-century sports, quack medicine, and social history.

Condition Report

  • Cards: The lithography remains remarkably vivid with deep, saturated colors. Minimal "foxing" or staining observed. Most cards appear to be period-mounted; however, several pages feature modern archival sleeves/corners, suggesting a mix of original and curated mounting.

  • Album: The cover is in overall excellent antique condition. The spine is intact with expected shelf wear for a 140-year-old book. There is noticeable minor rubbing, scuffing, and gilt loss on the highest points of the embossed gold leaves surrounding the front-facing peacock. This authentic wear is consistent with age and handles of a pre-adhesive album, confirming the book's Gilded Age origin. The colors on the peacock and other birds remain vibrant.

  • Interior Pages: Heavy stock pages show age-appropriate toning but remain sturdy.
